Talk about a fun couple! Ruth & Chris' wedding at Chris the King Catholic Church was sweet, but the real fun was watching them get ready and afterward at Terra Blanca Winery. Chris' letter to Ruth made us want to cry, and it certainly did the trick on Ruth. We got a chance to use our remote-controlled helicopter a few times — check out the movie below to see the footage! We were so happy to have been a part of this wedding. We're thankful to Ruth & Chris, and we wish them the best in their life together!
SVZ-USA
Did you know that firefly BLU does a lot more than weddings? Here's an example of a web site commercial we produced for SVZ USA, an Othello-based industrial fruit and vegetables company.
Michelle & Cody's Wedding | Pasco | Stone Ridge
Michelle & Cody! What a couple. We had tons of fun at Stone Ridge Event Center in Pasco. We started photos a little late (which is wedding par for the course), but everyone was organized enough that we got tons of great photos. Cody did an awesome job spinning Michelle in the vineyard, and Michelle did a great job trusting him and flying free! The ceremony was good fun; sentimental but not overly-dramatic. Each of them looked completely comfortable. The unity sand was great — far too much sand in their individual vials, which we suppose means they'll maintain some individuality.
A few drops of rain threatened to keep everyone indoors, but it quickly cleared up and no one seemed to mind the wind. Counter to what we expected from such a sweet couple, they playfully smashed cake all over each other. Towards the end, as the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, the gorgeous lighting made for some great last-minute photos of Michelle & Cody.
We won't hold it against them for being Cougs.
Melissa & Kevin | Benton City Engagement | Secret Winery
We had the privilege of shooting not only Melissa & Kevin for their engagement, but their two beautiful kids as well! We're very thankful to the owners of the secret winery where we shot these photos — they're very accommodating! Melissa & Kevin did a great job helping us pose the kids. And the kids themselves were great to work with. We're excited to be shooting their wedding in June at Stone Ridge Event Center!
Cathy & Cory | Kennewick Wedding | St. Joe's Chapel & Country Gentleman
Cathy & Cory have such great interplay — they really feed off each other's energy and happiness. From the moment they first saw each other on the wedding day, they were smiling every time they were together. They shared their first look at the lighthouse on Clover Island, which holds special meaning for them. At St Joe's Chapel, they shared playful glances during the ceremony. It was a delight to see them so comfortable even with so many friends and family there supporting them. Even the priest was a delight — he made a couple jokes that had the house rolling. The chapel wasn't the darkest venue we've visited, but it wasn't well-lit; We got the opportunity to try out our new high-performance cameras (5d mark 3's), and boy were they nice!
After the ceremony, Cathy and Cory were relaxed and able to really enjoy the reception. Country Gentleman has great food and is a nice venue, but it's an enormous challenge for photographers (it has a black ceiling and it pretty dark)! We put our flashes to use again and had to get a bit creative — we fired a second, off-camera flash through a diffuser held up by a tripod. It worked! And the dancing photos really benefited from it. The reception was a resounding success, complete with touching and hilarious speeches, tons of dancing, and a relaxed atmosphere. We're happy for this couple!
Kayla & Tony | Kennewick Wedding | Word Of Faith & Shilo Inn
This adorable couple got married on a memorable day — 11/11/11. (They'll have no trouble remembering their anniversary in the future!) Kayla and all the girls began getting ready at the new house she and Tony were moving into (the day before!), then moved on to Word of Faith Center. It was a whirlwind of action with all of the moms, bridesmaids, sisters, and flower-girls scrambling about getting ready. Kayla was such a beautiful bride! One of our favorite parts about winter weddings is when they wear gorgeous fur wraps. It is always encouraging to see such a show of support — they had one of the biggest bridal parties we've seen — seven on each side! They chose not too see each other before the ceremony, so the first time he saw her was as she walked down the aisle. It was a very sweet ceremony, complete with a slideshow of the couple playing while they took communion. They had some adorable little flower girls and ring bearer, who almost made it all the way up without help. :) After the ceremony, we got to take them around for portraits at the church and along the river behind the Shilo Inn in Richland. Both had some great opportunities for us and some beautiful fall colors still clinging to the trees. Unfortunately we got cut a bit short by rain but it held out long enough to get most of the family. At the Shilo Inn they had a big reception — it was a great day for a lot of family and friends on both sides to come together, dance, and have fun. Like a lot of couples this year, they had cupcakes for the guests. But their cupcakes were assembled as bouquets and put together so well that it took us awhile to realize that they were fact dessert, not flowers! It was a beautiful and memorable day and we wish Kayla and Tony the best!
Megan & Tracy | Kennewick Wedding | Lions Gate Wedding Chapel
We shot Megan and Tracy's engagement photos a couple years ago, so it was great to capture their wedding again even after so long. They got married on an absolutely beautiful October day — the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Their ceremony and reception were at LionsGate Wedding Chapel in Kennewick. This was the first time we had a wedding there; it is a charming little chapel with a unique vintage feel, complete with a suit of armor in the corner! For portraits, they rented one of the vintage limos from Four Star Limos, and we had a lot of fun with it. Megan chose a unique theme for her wedding and did an amazing job incorporating all of the details. The theme was locks and keys, she had antique keys everywhere in the decorations, on the tables and hanging from the centerpieces. The couple was married by Stacy from Uniquely I Do, who did an great job keeping it simple while personalizing it for them. During the ceremony, they inserted letters written to each other into a locked box, to be opened and read on their first anniversary. Her invitations were old books, hollowed out and filled with information about the wedding. And instead of a signing book, they had quilt pieces for the guests to sign, making for a beautiful and useful keepsake.
The chapel and reception hall were both beautiful — the reception hall was lit up with countless lights. While the bouquet usually goes to a single girl, they gave it to a married woman (based on who had been married the longest) — pretty sweet idea. Everyone had a wonderful time and when the night finally wore down we were more than a little jealous as they headed off to Hawaii. They are such a cute, fun couple with loads of personality. We had a great time shooting their wedding!
Lauren & Rusty | Richland Wedding | Richland Lutheran Church & Stone Ridge
This September wedding was awesome because the couple was so fun! The ceremony was at Richland Lutheran Church and the reception was at Stone Ridge Event Center. We never realized how beautiful that church was on the inside, it had some beautiful stained glass windows we had fun with. Stoneridge was a great place for photos as well, especially in the small vineyard just before sunset. These two were one of the happiest couples all day long, which is so much fun for us!
Jeannie & Eli | Richland Wedding | Anthony's
Jeannie & Eli were married at Anthony's Banquet & Event Center last September. The staff there at Anthony's is always great to work with. We love being able to take photos along the river path behind the event center. We played with a new piece of art next door — we had the wedding party on, in it, and around it. The weather wasn't as great as it could have been, but thankfully everything was indoors and able to stay dry until it cleared up during the reception. They had a lot of unique touches; we loved the hairpieces that the girls wore and the colors of the unity sand! But the make-you-cry moment when the bride's daughter walked her down the aisle!
Elizabeth & Cirenio | Kennewick Wedding | Bella Fiori
Elizabeth & Cirenio got married at a hidden gem of a venue — Bella Fiori Gardens in Kennewick. Hidden away out towards Finley, WA it has a lot of tall arbors which gives it a secluded and peaceful feel. There are many other really amazing features like a gazebo, fountains, and archways. All of the girls also carried parasols! (More weddings should include parasols.) Her shoes were memorable — amazing bright blue shoes; they added a fun note to her elegant dress and LONG train. They were an incredibly cute couple and it was a beautiful wedding!
